We walk not by sight

Jess and I walked along the river in the late afternoon sun with bare legs and books, climbing over tree roots and puddles all the way to Grantchester. Just before the dusk came I took this of Jess in my favourite hat, but then we started to feel the cold and retreated inside to drink ale.

For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind

Brighton beach just after Christmas was windy and freezing, but the pier with the machines where you could gamble two pence coins away, Poundland, and the fish and chip restaurant were pretty warm. We ate cockles swilling in vinegar and waded into the icy sea next to the burnt pier as soon as we got to the beach, when we took these pictures.



Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth

Halloween at Cambridge meant we all dressed up and ate a spooky formal dinner in the Hall, drank too much wine, slurred through our desserts at each other, and never made it out of the college grounds. Theo's 'Fire' outfit should have won best costume though.

Let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens

My first week living in Paris was filled with climbing up to high places, trying to create clouds from extinguishers, destruction and stupidity. These were taken on the roof of a tower block in the suburbs.

These are from a really old roll of film shot from our balcony. The colours seem to lend London a certain romantic quality that I never normally see.
